Many women have been through this...
You're applying for roles you know you're overqualified for, just because they mention "flexible working." Or you're stuck in a job that pays the bills but doesn't use half of what you're capable of.
Maybe you're looking at job descriptions thinking "I could do that in my sleep" but not applying because you can't tick every single box.
Or perhaps you've been on maternity leave and the thought of going back fills you with dread, not because you don't want to work, but because you can't face going back to something that never quite fitted anyway.
You know you're capable of more, but somewhere between nappies, nursery runs, and trying to keep everyone happy, you've forgotten what "more" even looks like for you.
If any of this sounds familiar, you're in the right place.
Why Most Career Advice Misses The Point
The advice you've been getting assumes you're optimising for one thing: your career. But you're not.
You're trying to build something that works for your whole life, and that's an entirely different puzzle.
Most career coaches have never had to navigate this. They've never explained a two-year gap, negotiated flexibility from a position of uncertainty, or applied for something beneath their abilities just to get back in.
That's why the standard advice feels unhelpful. It's not personal. It's just incomplete.
I’m Naomi Rothwell-Boyd, the founder of Mums On The Rise, and above all, a mum to a daughter and a son, as well as a wife to my husband. Our lively cocker spaniel also keeps us on our toes! And just to add the chaos, we've recently welcomed two kittens!
With over 6 years of experience running my own career coaching business, I’m passionate about helping mums navigate the next stage of their careers. I’m an EMCC and CIPD-accredited coach, and I’ve supported individuals from a wide range of industries through career transitions.
I’ve been through my own career changes too. I previously led corporate fundraising at Habitat for Humanity in the international development sector before transitioning into learning and development.
I became the first in-house L&D lead at Lane4 (now part of EY), where I worked with performance psychologists and Olympic athletes to help global clients like Kraft Heinz and TUI develop their senior leaders. I’ve also had the privilege of working with the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, designing leadership training programmes for both young people and adults. 6 years ago I took the plunge and left full time employment to set up my own business - the third big shift in my career.
Prior to making any of these big career decisions, at 18, I was involved in a life-altering accident that left me with a broken neck. This reshaped my perspective on life, resilience, and navigating change. This personal experience deeply informs my work as I help other mums overcome their own unique challenges to build fulfilling careers.

What Is Career Coaching?
A career coach is like a personal trainer for your career. The coach helps you set your career goals and build the plan to achieve them, and then they hold you to account, challenge you to go further and show you the best techniques for progress - just like a personal trainer does for your fitness.
As with exercise, you have to do the hard work to make progress, nobody else can do the hard work for you. The coach is right there alongside you helping to make it happen and accelerate your journey.
How We'll Work Together
This isn't about following a rigid process, this is the natural flow of how clarity develops
Stage 1
Uncovering your real needs so you can stop second-guessing yourself
We start by unpicking what you truly need from your career, what you want for yourself, not what you think you should want or what seems most "reasonable" as a mum.
Stage 2
Realigning your thinking so you can move forward with confidence
We'll identify what's really holding you back, such as limiting beliefs, guilt, or external constraints, and shift your perspective on what's possible
Stage 3
Designing your plan so you actually achieve the career you deserve
Together, we'll design a realistic, actionable career plan tailored to your life. I'll support and challenge you to make it happen

I only work with mothers. That means I understand the specific challenges of negotiating flexibility, explaining career gaps, changing roles or industries entirely and rebuilding confidence after time away.
We focus on what will actually move things forward for you. No fluff, no busywork, no vision boards. Just clear thinking and practical next steps.
Pricing & Booking
Personal coaching is of course deeply personal.
This is why I don't automatically make the same recommendations to everyone. I recommend taking a bespoke look at your own unique situation and needs during a quick discovery call.
The call has no cost and no obligation. During this 30-minute call, we'll discuss your career goals, identify your biggest challenge and explore if coaching is the right fit.
